Simple things to check to get hosted quickly and stay hosted for as long as you would like.
- Do a domain check first to see if your domain is available, then order it.
- If you already own your domain, know how and where to change it's name servers.
- Get familiar with your control panel before you start to add things. That way, if you get stuck, you have a better chance of getting un-stuck faster.
- Make sure you have the funds for hosting, you don't want to run out at an inopportune time.
- Back up your work. In the event that you accidentally make a mistake when changing your site, or something else happens, you should make at least bi-weekly updates of your site. If you change your site very often, you should probably back it up more often. (This includes databases.)
How to Not Be Successful
Simple things to avoid if you want your site to be a success.
- Place illegal/stolen material on your site, be unaware of Copyrights, place material that may harm others.
- Create accounts for the sole purposes of fraud or other illegal/harmful activity.
- Use scripts that may harm others, including people that are also on the same server.
